First plug in
USB-C into the box, USB-A into the PC. That is the whole setup.
Getting it recognised
- Plug the box in.
It shows up as a standard USB joystick with 128 buttons and 8 axes. No drivers to install, no software that has to be running.
- Open the controls binding screen in your sim and press a button on the box.
The binding screen picks it up like any other joystick.
That covers anything supporting USB HID joystick input: DCS, MSFS, X-Plane, IL-2, iRacing, Assetto Corsa, and essentially every other sim. If your sim has a controls binding screen, the box will show up there.
Recognised is not the same as set up
Every pin passes through as a button by default, D1 to button 1, D2 to button 2, and so on. Plain buttons and the lever are genuinely done at this point, as long as you do not need them inverted: bind them and go fly.
Most other modules want one small rule. A 2-way toggle works, but the off side has no button of its own yet, and most people want one. A multi-position rotary works except for its last position, unless you wired that position too. A 3-way switch has no middle button, an encoder only makes two buttons flicker, and nothing can latch or drive an axis yet. All of that is configured in the desktop app, and the next chapter, setting up the modules, walks through it module by module.
If nothing shows up
Check the USB cable first, then open the desktop app and see whether it finds the board at all. It detects SIMINPUT boards by USB vendor ID, so this splits the problem cleanly:
- App does not see the board: the problem is the cable, the board, or the USB port.
- App sees the board but your sim does not: the problem is on the binding side, not the hardware.
- App sees the board but one input never moves in the live monitor: that is a solder joint or a connector, so go back to soldering and wiring.
